Some time ago a relative passed away and left her estate to me and my cousins. Included in the estate was an annuity and we were told by her executor that it didn’t have to go through probate so the payout would be “almost immediately.” Well, “almost immediately” has come and gone and I haven’t heard anything more. I don’t want to sound greedy or mercenary, but it’s kind of weird to hear that you’ve inherited money and then never hear anything more about it. Does anyone know how long it takes for an annuity to be paid to a beneficiary?

best place to phrase that question would be directly to the annuity company. Maybe someone else has made a claim to this money.
