Has anyone been a financial advisor here?

27 Jul

I was given a job offer from a company that sells mutual funds, life insurance, annuities, college savings 529, fixed. How do you actually make money on this career. It seems you have to sell to all of your friends and family otherwise you won’t get enough clients. Anyone have experience doing this? Thanks.
I was offered $30,000 for the first year base + commissions. This sounds really good for a recent college grade but I don’t want to bug my friends and family every day to sell something.

Anyone done one of those retirement calculators?

03 Jun

Do you find in impossible to save enough to live above the poverty level when you retire?
I put in that I will live till I’m 95.
And that I needed $28,000 / year in todays dollars.
I even included social security which might not be around in 30 years.
Anyone else baffled by the numbers?

Does anyone know of a website/service that provides good insurance or mortgage leads and is it really worth it

20 May

I sell insurance, annuities, and mortgages (we use various types of mortgages to see if we can free up money to invest elsewhere). I can sell, but am not crazy about going out and trying to find people. Is their a service or website that provides GOOD leads? Also, are these leads services even worth the money? Thanks

I am having a problem with the I.R.S. and I don’t know what I should do to fix it. Can anyone help?

19 May

The I.R.S. put a hold on my checking account for back taxes that I should not owe. When I turned 18 (2000) I received a cash settlement and I loaned my mom & step dad money to start a small construction company, but my step dad said that I should should put it under my name, until he paid me back. So I did and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Shortly after that I found out that somehow there were 5 different signers on the account, so I froze the account and my parents changed the locks and went out of town. They still had the construction equipment and about 6 months later they said that the water truck was stolen and somehow they collected the money from the insurance, supposedly bought a new water truck and opened a company under my moms social security number and now the I.R.S. is saying that I owe $10,000 dollars for the taxes in 2001. What can I do to prove that they are the ones who truely owe the money?

16 May

about 9 months ago checks started coming in my name from this company to an old address in TX I moved to CA 2 yrs ago. they ended up being fowarded to my mother who then sent them to me. I called this company and asked them why I was getting checks for over $1000 for the last 9 months, they said there was a court favor in my name in 96′ ( I was 11 then) I asked them what court, about what, what about my older sister why just me. they stated they could not release court info to me I would have to request it from the court itself about the judgement, but they wont even tell me what court. they said ask my mother she should know, but she doesnt know anything about a court ruling anytime in my life. these people say these check will be send to me for life its an annunity payment. I have a feeling its a mistake or it just doesnt seem right. anybody come across this, how can i find old court records, and why i am getting this money, they wont tell me anything but that im getting it for life

Can anyone tell me about annuities?

14 May

What are the rules for fixed and variable?
When you start to draw from the annuity at retirement age will you get more than you put in?
How do you know how much you will receive each month at retirement age?
I have talked to people who have invested annuities and get a wide range of reactions and explanations. No one seems to be quite sure how they work. Anything from one person who lost a great deal of money to someone else who claims that she will be able to earn $13,000 per month at retirement age in 15 years ( $13,000 a month is a great deal greater than her current salary)
