Am I allowed to rollover an IRA into a different company IRA?

06 Jun

I am going to change my dad’s account with a small town bank and Kemper to a different mutual fund company (like Vanguard). Can I rollover an IRA to a rollover IRA, or is that only with 401ks?
Thanks!

I move my 401K from my old employer to a Rollover IRA account in Dec 2006. What will happen if I want to put money into that Rollover IRA? Will I get any tax penalty? Will it become Traditional IRA or Roth IRA?

Just got a check from AIG Annuity for X because I was enter into a drawing? Is this a scam?

20 May

But the letter says “This check has been provided to aide you in the mandatory payment of NON-Canadian Residential Tax, insurance, and Delivery charges pertaining to your winnings” and it says that I have to contact an agent. I looked up the number and it was a Canadian Number. The drawing was a consumer’s Promotional Draw.

can you rollover 401k into an existing roth IRA?

15 May

I have a 401k with my job and a Roth IRA. I’m planning to leave my job soon (for school) so can I rollover my 401 into the current Roth IRA since it would be less than the annual contribution limit (about $2500). Or do I have to open a “Rollover IRA” and then maintain two separate IRA accounts?

Where can a person start investing into an IRA that doesn’t require a lot of money for the initial deposit?

07 May

A friend works part time, her husband full time. Her employer does not offer a retirement plan, her husband is in his 401k plan. She wants to start investing some of her money to a retirement plan but does not have any money to initially deposit. Is it even possible for her to start an IRA? Are there better options for her to invest into? She wants to put in $25/ month electronically by AHC so she feels she is contributing to their retirement as well. As my husband and I both invest into our employer 401k programs, I did not have an answer for her and was hoping someone here would! She is 36 years old and was looking for something that would compound some off of her $300/year investment. Thanks!

I want to roll a SEP IRA into a Roth to make it easier to manage. I don’t have a problem paying tax on the amount rolled over. But I don’t want it to affect the annual amount I can contribute to the Roth which is $4,000. Is this possible?
