When I withdraw money from my Roth IRA, do I have to deduct Federal or State taxes?

30 May

I rolled over a rollover IRA into a Roth, which is now called a Roth IRA. When filing tax return, I had to pay Federal taxes on the whole amount that was rolled over. When I withdraw from my Roth IRA in the future, do I deduct Federal & State taxes from the amount that I am withdrawing, & if so, what percentage do I use. Will I get taxed on the amount of money that I withdraw, when I file next year’s taxes?

What can an individual buy from Aetna in the state of Indiana?

06 May

I want to qualify for an Aetna Healthy Living Visa card, but one of the requirements is that I have to be an Aetna customer.

Is there anything that an individual (not company) can buy from Aetna in the state of Indiana? Preferably something cheap like a term life policy or one of those child-life-insurance-policy things. If so, how do I find an agent that sells Aetna?

My reason is that the card offers 3% cash back on medical, and I charge a LOT of medical, and could mean a lot of cash back.

What’s needed for state insurance exam?

05 May

I am looking to sell index and fixed annuities (not variable). I was looking at being sponsored with a broker dealer but am leaning against it, at least for now. Do I need a sponsor to take the life/health insurance exam in Arizona (or anywhere)? I know the securities exam (6 and 63) require a BD to sponsor you, but I can’t find out if the L&H does.

Is money awarded by an insurance company subject to federal and state taxes?

22 Apr

$100,000 settlement for injuries..(wasn’t nearly enough, but that was the max on the policy) is it taxable by federal or state income taxes? Will not receive for 30 days so I have time to make some decisions before next year’s filing. Thanks
This was an auto accident. NJ is the state that will be taxing, if taxable.

How does a lawsuit settlement work in the state of Kansas?

12 Apr

I was a passenger in a car accident in ‘04 and my lawyer finally was able to ask for a settlement after the people involved in my injury decided to go ghost and I was able to find them. I am entitled to personal injury loss and my lawyer is asking for more because the main injury I sustained may be permanent. Even though I’m entitled to personal injury fees along with the other parties that’s involved(the person who hit me and caused the car to hit two other cars) can I get more? If so what amount can I get once my lawyer get his fee and the state of Kansas get their fee from taxes since this is a civil suit. My personal injury gain is $450K. My lawyer is asking for over $600K more for med. exp. and loss of income. His fee range is 32% if net recovery is reached, 36% if recovery is reached after filing a lawsuit, and 40% if recovery is reached after commencement of final prep for trial. Could I also ask my insurance to pay the legal fees? Can’t find info anywhere about this.

09 Mar

I closed my 403b that I opened when I worked in Maryland over 6 years ago…I haven’t contributed any money since I moved to Pennsylvania. I paid federal tax plus a 10% penalty for the IRS. Now I’m curious if I have to pay more taxes to PA even though it was an account I invested in Maryland. Please help…
